Wills & Estate Planning

A Will allows you to decide on how to leave your property on death rather than the Intestacy Rules.

The types of simple Wills are:

- Single Wills

- Double (Mirror) Wills

- Wills with Trusts

- Double (mirror) Wills with property protection trusts and severance of tenancy

- Double (mirror) Wills with discretionary trust for minor children and vulnerable/disabled beneficiaries

Why should I make a Will?

There are many reasons why it is important to make a will and also ensure your current Will is up to date:..

A Will is flexible which enables you to make provision for the ones you love

Allows you to make more complex provision for your family, appoint guardians for your children

You decide who benefits from your estate whether it be family, friends or a charity close to your heart

If you are an unmarried couple you can ensure your partner is provided for. Under current Law if you do not have a valid Will in place your partner will not benefit from your estate. This may cause financial strain and distress, especially if you have children to care for

If you are divorced you may want to provide for your former spouse as they may be guardian of your child/ren after your death

You can ensure you do not pay more Inheritance Tax than necessary, or pay no Inheritance Tax at all

What if I decide not to make a Will?

The law of intestacy depicts how your estate is distributed, not you. To find out more regarding intestacy
